add an option to save code as file, on the client's computer
Yeah, we plan on adding that.
@Haya: Any progress or an eta on this feature?
Best would be to allow users to download a zip of their scripts for local use.
@Ibrahim-Islam: We'll get into this soon at some point. we'll add some features and polish thing around with new dashboard for sessions.
Downloading Repls and files is out. The icon is on the bottom left corner. Let us know how you like it!
@Haya: Is there any way to download unrecognized files from a multi-file Repl?
@pizzapants111: what language is this? Yes you are suppose to be able to download files in project mode
@Haya: It is a C Repl, and the file is a PPM (*) Image file.
For PNG files, I can right-click the image for the option to download it, but unrecognized files don't show this option (that I can see).
@pizzapants111: Thanks for drawing this to our attention. PPM files will now be displayed as text.
@Haya: The Download button is pretty hard to see over there. why not put it next to the upload, debug, and libraries toolbar?
@Haya: Is there any way to download all the files as a zip?
@Akbar Mirza: it's not a button that people keep clicking on it, it should be as high priority as the other buttons. correct me if I'm wrong
@solly_ucko: not really, it depends on how many people want this feature. there is no open issue for it right now, feel free to open a new post about it, and if many votes come in we'll build it
@Haya: Yeah that sounds right. It would make the most sense next to those buttons, as opposed to having it be in a completely different location. It's kind of confusing for your visual hierarchy having it tucked in the bottom left corner.
@Akbar Mirza: It's not about visual hierarchy, it's about usability. How many times is that icon clicked? How many times per repl? it should be as compatible as the other icons are next to it. this is how I think about it.
@Haya: in terms of usability, it's very disorienting that the button is almost hidden. To find it, I had to google if repl.it had a download feature and that led me to find this page that explained where it was. Whereas, organically, I should've been able to find it in one of the locations where I interact with repl.it by clicking a button.
@Akbar Mirza: ok you got me thinking. I'll think about it. thanks for leting me know about your experience
